The Automotive Mechanics Diploma at Southeastern Community College trains students for entry-level work in an automotive repair facility. Students learn foundational automotive servicing skills, including suspension and steering systems, brake systems, automotive engine repair and manual drivetrains, and automotive electrical systems. The program includes instruction on ASE certification, safety, customer service, and employer/employee relations.
Training combines lecture and lab across the curriculum. Courses include Introduction to Automotive Technology, Fundamentals of Automotive Servicing, Automotive Suspension and Steering, Automotive Brake Systems, Automotive Engine Repair, Manual Drivetrains I, Automotive Electrical I, and AC/DC Fundamentals. Instruction also includes Toyota TECS Elite, with proprietary processes and tools used on Toyota vehicles, and students earn a Toyota Maintenance Certificate upon successful completion.
Graduates can pursue roles as an Automotive Service Technician or an Electronic Equipment Installer/Repairer. The Automotive Technology–Automotive Mechanics Diploma is awarded after successful completion of the first two. Diploma can be earned one time.
