Aviation Maintenance Technology (Aas & Cert) is a five-semester program preparing students for the aircraft maintenance industry and certificated under Federal Aviation Administration Title 14 CFR 147. Training is organized into three major categories: General, Airframe, and Powerplants.
The General section covers math, physics, aerodynamics, basic electricity, aircraft weight and balance, regulations and publications, materials and processes, and fluid lines and fittings. The Airframe section includes airframe structure maintenance and repair, with courses such as sheet metal, composites, hydraulics, communication and navigation systems, landing gear, environmental systems, and electrical systems. The Powerplant section includes theory and operation of reciprocating and turbine engines, including disassembly, inspection, repair or replace, reassembly, and operation check outs, plus ignition systems, electrical power generation, induction, fuel systems, and propeller maintenance.
Coursework includes 50/50 classroom and hands-on training. Students can earn an Associates of Applied Science degree with additional coursework.
