Bachelor Science

The BS in Respiratory Care at Foothill College is intended for students who have completed an associate degree in respiratory care as a pathway to complete a four-year degree. The curriculum focuses on advanced level scope of practice, including clinical specialist, interventional pulmonology, and pulmonary diagnostics. Graduates develop skills to implement their role as health professionals with ethics, values, skills, and knowledge integral to the profession, with emphasis on these advanced practice areas.

The program is delivered fully online. Students complete required courses in a tentative schedule that includes fall, winter, spring, and summer sessions. Coursework includes areas such as Human Pathophysiology and Pharmacology, Health Across the Lifespan, and Research Methodology for Health Professionals. Respiratory Therapy courses cover Leadership and Management in Health Care, Interventional Pulmonology Theory and Application, Clinical Specialist and Chronic Disease Management, Advanced Pulmonary Diagnostics, and Interventional Pulmonology Procedures, with a Respiratory Care Capstone Research Project.

• Admission to Foothill College
• Possession of an Associate of Science in Respiratory Care/Therapy or be degree eligible by June 30, 2026
• Graduation from a CoARC accredited Respiratory Care Program
• Possession of a California Respiratory Care Practitioner license or be eligible for licensure
