The Biological Sciences BS Transfer program (Biology Transfer, Biological Sciences BS - Associate in Arts) prepares you for transfer into a BA or BS program in Biological Sciences at the University of Rhode Island (URI). You study introductory biology and chemistry, along with general education courses that include communication, English composition, and electives in history, humanities, literature, and social science.
The program totals 62 credit hours. Course requirements include BIOL 1001 Introductory Biology: Organismal, BIOL 1002 Introductory Biology: Cellular, CHEM 1030 General Chemistry I, and CHEM 1100 General Chemistry II, plus math choices such as Applied Precalculus or Calculus I. It may be completed at any campus, and it requires one or more courses completed online; it may also be completed fully online.
Through the Joint Admissions Agreement (JAA), completing a JAA plan earns an Associate’s degree and enters URI with 60 credits and Junior status. Eligible students may receive a tuition discount of up to 30% at the receiving institution, a waived application fee, and personalized advising.
