The University of West Florida offers a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with a major in Healthcare Administration. The program prepares students to plan, direct, or coordinate medical and health services in hospitals, outpatient clinics, rehabilitation centers, long-term care facilities, mental health organizations, and insurance companies. Study areas include contemporary issues in healthcare administration, the fundamentals of the United States healthcare system, healthcare laws and regulations, and ethical decision-making.
Learning includes managing healthcare operations and employees, finance in health services organizations, and strategic management and planning for healthcare organizations. Students complete a total of 120 credit hours, with 60 credit hours in the major and 12 credit hours of approved electives. The degree also includes 60 credit hours of general education. Students gain hands-on experience through an internship.
