Towson University offers an accelerated B.S. in Public Health/M.S. in Health Science program through the Department of Health Sciences. It allows students to earn both degrees in less time than it would take to pursue each degree separately. Public Health undergraduate majors can substitute nine (9) units in the M.S. in Health Science program for undergraduate classes, and selected courses count for both the B.S. in Public Health and the M.S. in Health Science after the student is accepted into the M.S. program.
Students accepted into the program usually begin graduate-level course work during their senior year. Nine units taken at the 500/600 level after completion of the junior year are double-counted toward the B.S. and the M.S. The GPA for these double-counted units is applied to the undergraduate record, but not to the graduate record. A bachelor’s degree is awarded after all B.S. requirements are met; students must maintain a 3.0 GPA to proceed to the M.S.
