Business Administration BBA

The University of Alaska Southeast Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) prepares students for professional positions in private or public business fields, to evaluate and exploit viable business opportunities, and for graduate study in business and related disciplines. The program includes General Education Requirements, an Alaska Native Knowledge Graduation Requirement, major requirements, and an emphasis area.

Students complete a minimum of 120 credit hours, including 42 credits of upper-division courses (300 or above) with 24 completed at UAS. The major includes lower-division courses such as Introduction to Business, Business Communications, and Spreadsheet Concepts and Applications, plus upper-division courses such as Management Information Systems, Financial Management, Legal Environment of Business, and Applied Business Research, along with a capstone. B.B.A. degree seeking students may pursue a dual emphasis in Accounting, Management and Leadership, or Human Resource Management, with advisor approval.

To be formally admitted to the B.B.A. program, a student must be in good standing at the University. Candidates must complete the General Education Requirements (GERs), the Alaska Native Knowledge Graduation Requirement, and the specific program requirements listed in this section for a minimum of 120 credit hours. Any given course may be counted as fulfilling more than one requirement in a degree program, but the credit hours can only be counted once.

• Degrees must include 42 credits of upper-division (300 or above) courses, 24 of which must be completed at UAS.
• Courses used as major requirements cannot be used as GERs.
• A minimum grade of C- (1.70) must be earned in all accounting and business administration prerequisite courses as well as math (through MATH S151).
• All students in the Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) program must either test out of or earn a C- or better in major and emphasis courses.

Lower division courses must be substantially completed before admission to upper division courses. In cases where some lower division courses have not yet been completed, permission is required to take upper division core or emphasis classes.
