The Computer Science Interdisciplinary B.A. at Whitworth University combines core computer science and math courses with upper-division study in another discipline of your choice. You can choose areas such as English, art, communication, philosophy, business, or other disciplines, and you use your computer science skills to work on problems connected to that field.
The major includes hands-on projects. Students in the senior capstone complete a project for the full semester in larger teams for organizations in the Spokane community. Beyond the capstone, students can take part in projects through the computer science program’s Innovation Incubator, including work such as website and app development, data analytics, and user experience analyses.
You can also explore service-learning and the ethical dimensions of computing through courses and extracurriculars, and connect social and ethical issues to classroom discussions. The program supports students through faculty office hours and courses taught by professors from introductory to advanced levels. Graduates pursue roles including software engineer and technical program manager, with placements listed at companies such as Bungie, Microsoft, and Google.
