Data Science Certificate

The University of West Florida offers a fully online Data Science Undergraduate Certificate that teaches programming languages, statistics, and the modeling and computational techniques needed for data science. Students complete courses such as Tools for Data Science, Databases for Data Science, Statistics for Data Science I, and Statistics for Data Science II, along with work that supports identifying, formulating, and solving data problems.

The program uses a course length of 8 weeks and an estimated program length of 12 months. It is organized as a set of required courses totaling 12 credit hours, with completion required at a grade of C or higher. After completing the certificate, students can pursue jobs in fields that work with various forms of data.

• STA 4121 - Statistics for Data Science I
• STA 4231 - Statistics for Data Science II

To be considered for admission to the University of West Florida’s online Data Science Undergraduate Certificate program, you must be admitted to the University as an undergraduate non-degree-seeking student.

Once accepted as a non-degree seeking undergraduate student, prospective students for this certificate must contact the undergraduate advisor from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics to start the Declaration of Certificate process before the drop/add period of the semester of completion. Students must also complete the online Undergraduate Certificate Declaration Form on MyUWF.

UWF’s online Data Science Undergraduate certificate program is composed of 12 credit hours and requires completion of the following courses with a grade of C or higher.
