Data Science Graduate Certificate

The University of West Florida offers a fully online Data Science Graduate Certificate focused on advanced statistics, modeling, and computational techniques. You study statistics for data science through STA 5126 - Statistics for Data Science I and STA 6232 - Statistics for Data Science II, and you build skills in data storage and processing with CAP 5775 - Databases for Data Science and CAP 5756 - Tools for Data Science.

The program totals 12 credit hours and includes required courses that must be completed with a grade of C or higher. Course length is 8 weeks, and the estimated program length is 12 months. You gain hands-on experience with data science tools including R, Python, SQL, and Spark.

After completing the certificate, you can pursue careers as Marketing Research Analysts, Operations Research Analysts, Statisticians, or Data Scientists.

To be considered for admission into the University of West Florida’s online Data Science Certificate program, you must be admitted into the University as a graduate non-degree seeking student. Other requirements include:

• Have a B.S. degree with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher
• Prior knowledge in statistics and basic programming is recommended for this certificate. If you do not have a strong background in statistics, start with an introductory statistics course, such as STA 2023 Elements of Statistics, before beginning this certificate.
