Doctor Nursing Practice Approved

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is a joint program between the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Southeastern Louisiana University, with each university awarding the DNP degree. It prepares graduates for expert nursing practice to provide complex hospital and community-based care. The focus is on preparing expert practitioners who can also serve as clinical faculty, rather than a research doctorate.

The program is designed to use shared classes, library resources, and other resources. It also uses distance learning technologies to increase access for students across the state. It is planned to be developed from and build upon the existing master’s level advanced practice nursing tracks at UL Lafayette and Southeastern, and it is initially offered as post-master’s entry.
