Doctor Nursing Practice Mean You

The Doctor of Nursing Practice prepares nurses to assume nursing leadership roles. A synthesis project is a required part of the program, and one example project is titled “Quality Improvement Project: Cardiac Risk Stratification Prior to Non-Cardiac Surgery,” which evaluates the functional capacity of adult patients prior to non-cardiac surgery. The project is described as applicable to preoperative settings, surgical settings, and health care systems.

The program is connected to practice change and evidence-based implementation. The learning emphasized is to ensure that practice changes are evidence-based and produce positive health outcomes for patients. It also prepares graduates for roles that support clinical practice and management, including work as a manager and clinical nurse practitioner in a pre-anesthesia clearance and evaluation clinic.
