Livingstone College awarded an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters to Dr. Michael Eric Dyson during its Winter Commencement Ceremony. Dyson is described as a scholar, cultural critic, and best-selling author, with work focused on race, class, social justice, hip-hop culture, theology, and the Black experience in America.
The ceremony included the presentation of the honorary degree by the College’s President and CEO, Dr. Anthony J. Davis, with Acting President Dr. Dawn B. McNair. Dyson also delivered the commencement address to the Class, and the event brought together graduates, families, alumni, faculty, and community supporters.
