The Saint Leo University Doctorate in Education and Criminal Justice offers two doctoral degrees: School Leadership (EdD) and Doctorate in Criminal Justice (DCJ). The EdD specializes in School Leadership, preparing current or aspiring administrators who hold a master’s degree in education (or a related field) for higher-level roles such as school or district superintendent or instructional leader. The DCJ offers concentrations in Homeland Security and Education, and degree plans are based on practitioner needs in education and criminal justice.
Both doctoral degrees require 60 credit hours of advanced study completed through a low-residency, blended format. Limited classroom time is required during residencies so students in each admitted year or semester interact with each other and with faculty in person. The EdD residencies are held annually for a week during the summer at the University Campus in Central Florida. The DCJ requires three residencies of up to three days that rotate between the University Campus and Saint Leo Education Centers in Georgia and Virginia, with the remaining work completed through online classes and individual study.
