The Health Policy and Management PhD trains students to conduct original, investigator-initiated research. Students complete a common core curriculum designed to meet department-wide competencies, including Introductory Public Health knowledge learning objectives, and then select one of four concentrations for dissertation work.
The four concentration options are Bioethics and Health Policy, Health Economics and Policy, Health Services Research and Policy, and Health and Public Policy. The program combines coursework, research mentoring, qualifying and oral exams, thesis advisory committees, and thesis research, including an oral defense and submission of a written thesis. It is a full-time, residential program based in Baltimore, Maryland.
