The Master of Health Science (MHS) in Molecular Microbiology & Immunology is designed to provide a foundation in the biomedical sciences for a select group of students. It focuses on addressing issues underlying infectious and immunologic diseases of public health importance. Students work with concepts and methodological tools to solve disease-related problems across population, clinical, cellular, and molecular aspects of disease.
Training is delivered through coursework, special studies with faculty members, and participation in other departmental activities. An elective is also available for gaining experience with basic molecular biological laboratory techniques. Degree progress includes a requirement to register each term for one credit of Special Studies designed to support MHS students in navigating program requirements and thesis steps. The program also allows MHS students to apply to transfer into the MMI ScM program, with decisions made before the beginning of the third term.
