The Master of Education (M.Ed.) at Southern Utah University is an online graduate degree with areas of study including General, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Foundations & Policy, Higher Education and Student Affairs, and Special Education. In the General focus, students study historical, philosophical, and political underpinnings of education, examine the characteristics of highly effective teachers, and plan and carry out a practitioner research study where they work. The M.Ed. includes 12 credits of elective coursework for an emphasis choice.
Students complete 30–33 credit hours in as few as three semesters, with most classes taught over 7-week terms. The program is asynchronous and includes core requirements, elective requirements, and capstone requirements. Capstone courses include Principles of Practitioner Research, Practitioner Research I, and Practitioner Research II.
