The University of West Florida English M.A. is an online Master of Arts in English focused on the study of literature, creative writing, and discourse. Students complete graduate English core work in areas such as advanced literary study and the history of literary theory. The degree also supports writing and workshopping fiction, non-fiction, creative non-fiction, and creative writing, with thesis and non-thesis tracks available.
Learning happens through real-time online lectures using the university’s free video-conferencing service. Live sessions are held for evening core seminars, and all courses are held in the evening to support attendance by working professionals, with occasional daytime events. The program requires 33–36 credit hours and uses an admissions choice of specialization in literature or creative writing. Classes are strictly limited to 20 students.
