The Applied Liberal Arts (ALA) program is a Bachelor of Arts degree. Students complete a major in Applied Liberal Arts and choose a concentration in one of six areas. The curriculum builds critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and cultural literacy, along with workplace essentials such as project management, data visualization and analysis, design thinking, and conflict resolution.
Students complete six major requirements and either five or six courses within their chosen concentration. Major requirements include courses such as Writing with Precision (or Conflict Resolution and Negotiation Skills), Project Management (or Idea to Launch), Data Visualization (or Personal Finance or a first-level programming language), Design Thinking, and either an ALA Integrative Capstone or Strategic Leadership. Students also take a required core curriculum that includes ADEX1150 The Examined Life and multiple areas such as English, philosophy, theology, social science, history, mathematics, natural science, arts, and cultural diversity.
