The undergraduate Computer Science major leads to a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science. Students in the Bachelor of Arts complete eight core requirements plus nine additional credits through higher-level computer science courses. Students in the Bachelor of Science complete eight core requirements plus additional coursework in computer science, mathematics, and the laboratory sciences.
Core courses include Computer Science 1, Computer Science 2, Data Structures, Computer Systems, Computer Organization, Logic and Computation, Randomness and Computation, and Algorithms. The first four courses and the final three courses must be taken in the order listed. The Bachelor of Arts adds credits from CSCI or above and CSCI 3000 or above, plus a mathematics component that includes Calculus II for science majors and Linear Algebra. The Bachelor of Science includes mathematics components and a two-semester laboratory science sequence.
