The Game Development MA at Academy of Art University helps students build career skills by combining art and design fundamentals with game technologies. Students work on hands-on prototyping of game mechanics and art creation, then complete a final project that results in an industry-quality portfolio.
The program is available online and on campus. Major classes cover areas such as 3D modeling and animation, figure and environment modeling, color scripting, game design principles, and scripting for video games using the Unreal game engine. Students also develop game design documents and build prototypes through team work in a model production environment.
