The Master of Science in Athletic Training is a CAATE-accredited, hands-on graduate program designed to help students gain clinical experience while mastering advanced techniques in injury prevention, diagnosis, and rehabilitation. The program includes preparation for the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Training Certification. Overall, it is organized around 70 total credits, with 18 clinical credits and 52 classroom instruction credits.
Students study in an on-campus format, beginning in the summer with the first two weeks fully online. In the fall of the second year, coursework is offered fully online, allowing clinical placements to be completed from virtually anywhere. The program includes clinical affiliations, and it is described as emphasizing evidence-based practice, patient-centered care, and interprofessional collaboration.
The program includes two degree pathways: a post-baccalaureate track for students with a bachelor’s degree, and an accelerated (3+2) track that combines requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and the MSAT. It is for students aiming to work in athletic, healthcare, and rehabilitation environments after completing the program.
