General Studies - Associate in Artsassociate Degreearts & Humanities

The General Studies Associate in Arts at Community College of Rhode Island is designed to give students a broad-based major in the liberal arts and sciences. Students study areas that support communication, critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and learning across many disciplines. Program learning outcomes include creating written work, communicating through oral and visual presentations, applying evidence, using information literacy skills, and applying scientific and quantitative principles.

Students complete general education requirements and major education requirements made up of electives from any instructional program. The total hours are 61–63, with specific general education items such as ENGL 1010 (or ENGL 1010A), history, humanities, lab science, literature, mathematics, and social science electives. The program can be completed at any campus and can also be completed fully online.
