The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Certificate from the Community College of Rhode Island is a certificate program focused on collecting and mapping spatial data using online and desktop GIS software. Students learn how GIS systems are created and used in areas such as disaster preparedness, environmental sciences, transportation, public safety, education, coastal management, and natural resources.
The program is designed for students without prior GIS experience and for students with some experience who want to refresh their skills. It can be completed in one year, starting in the fall semester, and includes GIS software training through ArcGIS I: Introduction to ArcGIS, ArcGIS II: Data Management and Spatial Analysis, and ArcGIS III: Field Data Collection and Web Applications.
