The University of West Florida offers an online Undergraduate GIS Certificate that combines a foundation in geosciences with hands-on GIS technology. Students work with ArcGIS Pro and Python programming through required undergraduate-level courses, including Geographic Information Systems (plus lab), Computer Cartography (plus lab), and Photo Interpretation and Remote Sensing (plus lab).
Completion requires 24 credit hours. The program is fully online and uses virtual meetings with instructors, personal advising appointments, and access to technical assistance and tutoring. Required technology is provided through Argo Apps for GIS virtual machines, and all course materials and communication are in English.
The certificate includes a required GIS internship option and aims to help students recognize and practice GIS technologies, analyze and interpret large amounts of GIS-collected data, and gain real-world experience. GIS undergraduate-level courses can be applied to the Geographic Information Science Administration, M.S. program foundation requirement.
