The Global Sustainability BA at Thomas College examines interconnected systems behind climate change, resource depletion, global supply chains, and social inequality across international borders. The degree is multi-disciplinary, drawing on science, social studies, humanities, education, economics, and business, and it uses triple bottom line thinking (People, Planet, Profits) to connect sustainability with social and management principles.
Students follow a career-focused curriculum that includes internships and leadership development. Key courses include Environmental Economics, Environmental Issues, Toward a Sustainable Society, Current World Problems, and Business Strategy for Global Sustainability. The program emphasizes exposure to global issues and cultures, including environmental justice and social justice.
The program prepares students for careers in non-profit organizations, state agencies, and solar companies (including sales), as well as for roles such as a sustainability officer for a company.
