Graduate Certificate Cardiovascular Nursing Feb

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette offers a graduate certificate in cardiovascular nursing. The program focuses on diagnosing and treating heart-related medical conditions, including angina, congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, and hypertension. It is designed for advanced practice registered nurses (APRN) with expertise in cardiology, and it also accepts students who have graduated from or are enrolled in adult gerontology nurse practitioner, acute care nurse practitioner, or family nurse practitioner programs.

Students complete the instruction portion online. Clinical training is included through a four-credit-hour clinical component, where students work under the direction of faculty and other qualified preceptors such as cardiologists and nurse practitioners with cardiology experience. Students use diagnostic equipment and processes such as telecardiology, and clinical experience is supported through collaboration with medical professionals in other states.

The program is designed for APRNs, who are nurse practitioners with master’s degrees. Prospective students who have graduated from, or are enrolled in, an adult gerontology nurse practitioner program, an acute care nurse practitioner program or a family nurse practitioner program are also eligible to apply for admission. Applicants must meet University admission requirements.
