The Health Information Technology Graduate Certificate at Towson University is designed to give an interdisciplinary curriculum that builds knowledge and skills in both health care and information technology. Students study health care systems and related information technology topics, supported by modules such as Information Technology, Systems Development Process, and Health Care Systems.
The certificate is offered in a hybrid format with online and in-person courses. Certificate requirements include AIT 600 Information Technology (3), AIT 610 Systems Development Process (3), and either HLTH 633 Health Care Systems (3) or HCMN 535 Health Information and Quality Management. Students also complete AIT 645 Health Data Analytics or AIT 644 Healthcare Information Technology, plus AIT 740 Case Studies in Healthcare Information Technology (3).
This program is intended for students who have a bachelor’s degree in a computing-related field and want to master information technology skills widely needed in the health care industry. It may also interest working professionals in health care or public health, or students with a bachelor’s degree in a discipline other than IT who want to prepare for careers in this field. The certificate credits may transfer toward the complete master’s degree program in applied information technology.
