Healthcare Assistant Certificate

The Healthcare Assistant Certificate at Southeastern Community College prepares students to work efficiently in a medical office. Students learn concepts and skills such as infection control, patient scheduling, patient interviewing, electronic health records, and medical supply inventory.

The program teaches administrative and clinical-based skills in the medical clinic setting, using competency-based learning outcomes. Students develop communication and interpersonal skills, learn office policies and procedures, confidentiality, and legal concepts, and practice patient rooming, medical history, and vital signs including height, weight, and checking vital signs.

All health career programs require students to earn a grade of "C" (2.0) or above in all coursework within the program. All other eligibility requirements must be met. Admissions standards apply to this program.
