Integrative Behavioral Health BA

The Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Behavioral Health prepares students to approach health through an integrative lens that includes empirical practices and theories from multiple disciplines. Students study behavioral health topics and related course work such as Introduction to Behavioral Health, Beginning Therapeutic Practices, Ethics for Behavioral Health and Addictions, and the Integrative Behavioral Health Capstone. Electives support focus areas including addiction, trauma, crises, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, and research methods in social science.

Students complete a minimum of 120 credit hours, including 34 hours of General Education Requirements, 3 hours for the Alaska Native Knowledge Graduation Requirement, and 42 major requirement hours, with additional elective hours across behavioral health & psychology, social sciences & humanities, and health sciences & natural sciences. The program includes 42 upper-division credit hours (300 or above), with 24 completed at UAS. It is offered in e-Learning.

The program equips graduates to work in the behavioral health field and in community and social service organizations, and/or to pursue advanced clinical or research degrees. Students can elect a Chemical Dependency Emphasis, and they may pursue a Children’s Behavioral Health Occupational Endorsement through distance via UAA as part of their required electives.

Complete all General Education Requirements (GERs), the Alaska Native Knowledge Graduation Requirement, and the specific program requirements for a minimum of 120 credit hours. Courses used to fulfill major requirements can also be used to fulfill GERs as long as minimum credit requirements have been met. Major requirements can be used to satisfy the chemical dependency emphasis requirements. Complete 42 of the 120 credit hours at the upper-division level (300 or above), of which 24 must be completed at UAS.
