International Affairs MA

The International Affairs M.A. at the University of West Florida is an online master’s program with an emphasis in international politics. Students study areas including comparative politics, international relations, political science, political theory, and political science research methods, supported by work in theoretical frameworks for systematic analysis.

The degree requires 33 credit hours, including 18 core credits and 15 elective credits. Instruction is delivered synchronously, with live lectures during scheduled course time via the university’s online video conferencing system. Courses are scheduled in the evenings and during the lunch hour. Students complete special projects, presentations, and either a comprehensive exam with an approved non-thesis option or a thesis.

The program is designed for students who want to advance a career as a mid-career military member or expand international affairs knowledge. It focuses on a single-disciplinary approach in security studies and diplomacy, and it aims to develop written and oral communication skills and data visualization and analysis skills.

To be considered for admission to UWF’s online international affairs program, you must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution. Other criteria for successful admission include the following:

• An institutional undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale on the last 60 hours of coursework in the baccalaureate degree.
• Submit official transcripts confirming a bachelor’s degree from an institution whose accrediting agency is included on the list of
