Marine Affairs BA Uri

This Biology Transfer, Marine Affairs BA program at the Community College of Rhode Island builds science and communications preparation for the Marine Affairs BA degree program at the University of Rhode Island. Students complete General Education courses and major requirements including Introductory Biology: Organismal, Introductory Biology: Cellular, Introduction to Oceanography, Human Use and Management of the Marine Environment, and Introduction to Marine and Coastal Law.

The program requires one or more courses to be completed online and two or more courses completed at the University of Rhode Island. It may also be completed online with two or more courses completed at the University of Rhode Island. The total coursework is 62 hours, with major requirements totaling 29 hours and General Education totaling 33 hours. Students complete required work through the recommended two-year, two-semester plan of study.

As a Joint Admissions Agreement transfer program to URI, students who complete a JAA plan receive an Associate’s degree and enter URI with 60 credits and Junior status. Students must complete all requirements as given. Depending on GPA, students receive a tuition discount of up to 30% at the receiving institution, a waived application fee, and personalized advising.
