The Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering prepares students for careers across machine learning, data sciences, parallel processing, communication systems, control systems, digital signal processing, computer networking, and computer security. The program includes a flexible curriculum with course work and either a capstone project, a thesis, or an all-class option.
Students complete a 30-credit-hour program. The thesis option includes 24 credit hours of course work and 6 credit hours of thesis research. The project option includes 27 credit hours of course work and 3 credit hours of a master capstone project. Courses are offered in-person on campus during the evening and online.
Students may also take approved courses from other major areas within the all-class option. Graduates pursue roles in areas including communications systems, computer networking, cybersecurity, data sciences, digital systems design, embedded systems, machine learning, parallel processing, robotics, and semiconductor devices, and work at companies such as Apple, Google, Meta, and Texas Instruments.
To be considered for admission to the Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in computer or electrical engineering or a closely related discipline, such as computer science, physics or mathematics. Prerequisite courses may be required for applicants with a bachelor’s degree in a closely related discipline. The GRE is not required.
