The Master of Jurisprudence is a graduate degree designed to give non-lawyers tools to understand current and future laws. Students gain general knowledge of the law and develop the ability to better understand legal issues such as statutes, regulations, contracts, and employment matters.
Students can complete the 30 credit-hour degree through full-time study in one year or part-time study in two years. Working professionals can take evening and online coursework. Students enroll alongside Juris Doctor students in introductory courses, and they take administrative law and legal research and writing.
The best applicants are those who have had significant real-life experience and who value the tools provided by legal training but without the commitment to and investment in a three-year J.D.
