Master Music Student Meldy Tanako

The Master of Music program includes studies focused on piano performance. Meldy Tanako completed her studies through a Graduate Recital held in Angelle Hall’s Ducrest-Gilfry Auditorium, performing works by Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Debussy, Ravel, and Barber.

Students can work and perform with university ensembles such as the University Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, and Symphony Orchestra. Meldy also served as an accompanist for individual student instrumentalists and vocalists, and she coached students as they prepared for recitals.

The program can also include performance-based teaching experience. Meldy worked as a piano teaching assistant for Dr. Chan Kiat Lim’s hybrid piano course, learning how to pair online curriculum eNovative Piano with face-to-face time focused on technique. Her studies led to doctoral study in piano performance and pedagogy at the University of Oklahoma.
