Master of Biotechnology

The Master of Biotechnology at Elms College is a Professional Sciences Master’s degree focused on biotechnology knowledge and skills through practical, hands-on experience under close instructor supervision. Students learn through real-life scenarios and build expertise relevant to biotechnology employers, with options that include coursework and a thesis track.

The degree can be completed with a minimum of 32 credits through coursework online or in person. A thesis option includes 12 credits of coursework combined with 20 credits of research. Research may be conducted in silico, in a campus laboratory, and/or workplace. Students may also choose a remote option that requires online coursework and research either in silico or in an approved research laboratory with an approved mentor.

Admission requirements include a degree in STEM (biology, chemistry, data science, bioinformatics, physics, engineering, math, etc.) with a minimum 3.0 GPA from an accredited institution.

• Completion requirements: Minimum 32 credits; Minimum GPA of 3.00.
• International students: TOEFL-iBT Minimum 80–IELTS Minimum 6.5; please refer to the International Admissions page for more information.
• Students currently enrolled at Elms College in Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or CIT in the undergraduate program can declare the spring of the Junior year, for a 5-6 year option (minimum GPA 3.5 Science GPA).
