Master of Science in Agriculture in Agronomy Professional Option

The Master of Science in Agriculture with the Agronomy Professional Option is an online program focused on advanced knowledge and skills in agronomy. Students study crop production, research techniques, and topics connected to agronomic and horticultural crops, including soil classification, soil conservation and land use, agricultural plant pathology, advanced soil fertility, and advanced research techniques.

The degree requires 33 credit hours of coursework and a thesis for degree completion, along with an oral defense of the thesis for progression to degree completion. Students complete 21 hours of required core credits and 12 hours of electives. The non-thesis option also functions as an exit requirement through independent research that results in a three-chapter paper under graduate faculty guidance.

Students applying for entrance to the Master of Science in Agriculture are required to submit an application for admission (Apply Online). Two letters of recommendation are required. Students must submit an official transcript from an accredited school for each school attended. At least one transcript must document the student has a bachelor’s degree. Decisions are made only after receipt of all credentials by the department’s admission committee. The department uses an admission formula to accept students. The entire application packet, including all supporting materials, must be submitted to the Graduate School. Official test scores must be submitted from Education Testing Service (ETS) and must not be older than five years. Official transcripts from the sending school and Credential Evaluations (International students) from an approved Credential Evaluation Service are required.
