The Master of Science in Agriculture (concentration: Animal Science) is designed for students who want to apply knowledge of animals and prepare for careers in animal-related fields. Learning outcomes include analyzing data, interpreting results, and preparing research reports. Students also gain admission into a doctoral or professional program, and they apply knowledge in administrative and professional positions in animal science and related industries.
The curriculum requires 33 credit hours of coursework and a thesis for degree completion, with an oral defense required for progression to degree completion. The plan includes 21 hours of required core credits and 12 hours of required course credits. Graduation expectations include completing a minimum of 27 credit hours in residence at Alcorn State University, earning no more than two Cs in coursework, and writing and orally defending an acceptable thesis.
