Master of Science in Biotechnology

The Master of Science in Biotechnology at Alcorn State University prepares students for advanced study in biotechnology focused on agriculture. Students learn to address major problems affecting growers of horticultural crops, crop production, and research techniques. Learning outcomes include analyzing and solving major problems, interpreting research results, and preparing research reports.

The curriculum requires 33 credit hours of coursework plus a thesis for degree completion, with an oral defense required for progression. The plan includes 21 hours of required core credits and 12 hours of electives. The thesis is an exit requirement, based on independent research guided by graduate faculty.

• Two letters of recommendation
• Official transcript from an accredited school. If a student has attended more than one school, transcripts must be submitted from all schools attended. At least one transcript must document that the student has a bachelor’s degree.
• Immunization Record
• Official transcripts from the sending school, and Credential Evaluations (International students) from an approved Credential Evaluation Service.
