Master of Science in Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner Concentration

The Master of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) concentration at Lincoln Memorial University prepares registered nurses (RNs) for an advanced role focused on family health promotion and culturally competent clinical management of common conditions across the life span. The program includes graduate-level coursework and clinical work that supports learning for family nurse practitioner practice.

The FNP concentration requires 43 credit hours of graduate-level coursework and a minimum of 750 clinical hours. Students can study in a seated or online format and can enroll full-time or part-time. In addition to clinical requirements, students complete a comprehensive exam during the final semester and complete a directed scholarly project.

• Graduated from an accredited baccalaureate nursing program
• Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of "B" (3.0) or higher
• Possess a basic understanding of statistics and basic computer skills
• Completed the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Not required, but is recommended
• Submit a minimum of three recommendations from healthcare professionals who can rate your potential. At least two must be from nursing professionals with an MSN or higher. One may be a professional in a related healthcare field.
• Submit a typed letter to the Admissions Committee describing your professional goals
• Possess an unencumbered license to practice as an RN in the state of Tennessee. A clinical practicum may necessitate licensure in neighboring states.
