The Master of Science in Nursing with a Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (FPMHNP) concentration at Lincoln Memorial University prepares registered nurses for an advanced practice role. It focuses on mental health promotion and culturally competent clinical management of common conditions across the life span.

The program offers a fully online option and a seated, in-person option. Students study full-time or part-time. Both options require 44 credit hours of graduate-level coursework and 750 clinical hours. Clinical placements are typically within commuting distance of the attending site, and students complete a comprehensive exam and a directed scholarly project in the final semester.

To qualify, you must have:

• Graduated from an accredited baccalaureate nursing program
• Earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of "B" (3.0) of better
• Possess a basic understanding of statistics and basic computer skills
• Completion of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Not required, but is recommended
• A minimum of three recommendations from healthcare professionals who can rate your potential. At least two must be from nursing professionals with an MSN or higher. One may be from a professional in a related healthcare field.
• Possess an unencumbered license to practice as an RN in the state of Tennessee. A clinical practicum may necessitate licensure in neighboring states.

After you have completed the MSN FPMHNP program, you will receive instructions for several tasks you must complete to participate in class and clinicals. Those tasks include: Negative chain of custody urine drug screen; Background check; CPR certification, which must be American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) certification; Medical profile packet and Student Essential Function form; Proof of health insurance.
