The Master of Science in Secondary Education with a concentration in English prepares graduates to serve as teachers or practitioners in various educational capacities. The English endorsement builds advanced skills and tools in language, literature, and criticism, including mastery of English, effective writing techniques, literary knowledge, analysis skills, research skills, and teaching skills.
The program requires 33 credit hours of coursework, including 12 hours of required core credits, 15 hours of required course credits, and 6 hours of electives. Degree completion also requires passing required exit exams, including a Core Examination and an Area Examination. Students follow an academic track focused on exit exams and meet residency and grade expectations for graduation.
