Master Science Accountancy

The Master of Science in Accountancy 4+1 is an accelerated Bachelors-to-Masters option offered through a partnership between Saint Mary’s College and the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business. Students study the requirements needed to complete a bachelor of business administration with an Accounting major or concentration, and then pursue the Master of Science in Accountancy at Notre Dame.

Mendoza specialized master’s programs are completed in one academic year. For Saint Mary’s students, the accelerated accounting track can be completed in 3.5 academic years to support a 4.5-year pathway to both degrees. For accepted Notre Dame students, admission happens during an early application period (typically September) for an anticipated January start date.

The program uses defined admission criteria, including academic performance and standing. It is designed for current Saint Mary’s undergraduate students and for high school students applying for direct entry.

High school students (direct admission option for first-year students, 3.5+1):

• Apply to Saint Mary’s by January 15 (students who apply after this date will be considered on a space available basis).
• List accounting as one of their three major interests on the application.
• A cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 or higher.

Current Saint Mary’s students (accelerated track with admission to Notre Dame):

• Complete bachelor of business administration with the accounting major or the accounting concentration at the College in December immediately prior to the intended January matriculation at ND.
• Achieve an overall minimum GPA of 3.2.
• Achieve an overall minimum GPA of 3.5 in coursework for the College’s accounting major or concentration.
• Pay the deposit for admitted students to Notre Dame 30 days after formal notification of admission.
