Masters Degree Direct Entry Nursing Demsn

The Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing (DEMSN) at Saint Leo University is for students who already hold a non-nursing bachelor’s degree and want to enter the nursing profession. The program focuses on nursing content and clinical judgment, with learning outcomes that include health assessment, nursing leadership, safety in practice, and interprofessional partnerships.

The DEMSN is an accelerated, cohort-based program with 64 total credit hours delivered across five semesters. It uses a hybrid format with in-person instruction and flexible online learning. Students complete 752 didactic (theory) hours, 144 skills laboratory hours, and 672 clinical practice hours.

Graduates complete education designed to support professional nursing practice and nursing licensure eligibility through NCLEX-RN preparation for registered nurse licensure.

• Conferred bachelor’s degree, non-nursing discipline of study
• Successful completion of prerequisite courses within 7 years with a grade of B or higher
• Anatomy and Physiology I and II with Lab – 8 credits
• Microbiology with Lab – 4 credits
• Human Growth and Development - 3 credits
• Statistics – 3 credits
• ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) score of 72 or higher
