Masters Mentor Dr Wesley Bradford

Masters Mentor led by Dr. Wesley Bradford at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette centers on mentorship for graduate students in Music Theory. Dr. Bradford is an Associate Professor and Coordinator of Music Theory in the School of Music and Performing Arts, and his research focuses on musical meaning and interpretation. He guides students on writing, publishing, and presenting their research, and he keeps students informed about opportunities to present research at conferences or in composition competitions.

Mentorship includes structured academic involvement. Dr. Bradford evaluates every incoming graduate student with a music theory exam and serves on nearly every Master’s student committee. He also leads mentoring activities connected to the curriculum, including new rigorous courses and a Composers Forum that engages graduate student composers in the administration of an innovative recital. His courses emphasize writing components, and he supports graduate teaching assistants appointed in the School’s Music.
