The Saint Leo University Master’s in Instructional Design (MSID) builds skills in instructional design and design theories, including alignment with the AECT Standards (Association for Educational Communications and Technology). Sara Krieger describes the coursework as covering multiple design theories rather than focusing on one approach.
The program is delivered as an online degree program. Krieger highlights the collaboration built into the structure, including discussion with instructors and fellow students and opportunities to hear others’ perspectives. She also describes instructor support, structured classes, and classroom conversation.
Krieger connects the program to her work supporting training for NATO members. Her role included creating e-learning courses for predeployment training and teaching how to develop multimedia-based courses for team members.
