This Ph.D. program in microbiology, molecular biology, and biochemistry prepares students for a research-oriented career. Students develop a research goal based on lab work, collect and analyze data, publish findings, and gain experience teaching undergraduate students. Faculty research strengths include reproductive biology, evolution and ecology, medical biosciences, neurobiology, and cellular and molecular biology.
Research is a major component of the program. The curriculum requires 78 credits and is delivered at the locations of Moscow and Coeur d'Alene. Students work through lab-based research activities and connect their work to publication and teaching experience.
Applicants for the Ph.D. in microbiology, molecular biology and biochemistry must meet the following degree-specific admission requirements:
TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo: 79/6.5/115 (for applicants whose education was completed in countries where English is not an official language; (TOEFL score of 92 or equivalent is required for teaching fellowship)
