The Doctor of Nursing Practice–Nurse Anesthesia program at Westminster University prepares students to deliver anesthesia during critical procedures. Students develop individualized perianesthetic care across the anesthetic continuum and learn to evaluate safe anesthetic delivery with patient protection and complication prevention. The curriculum also covers airway and ventilator management as resource-person practice, critical thinking with evidence-based research, and communication skills for influencing patient care.
The program runs for 9 semesters (3 years). The didactic portion begins with the first 2 semesters fully remote, then moves to on-campus instruction for the next 3 semesters. Clinical rotations begin after on-campus courses. Students complete an average of more than 900 cases during clinical rotations, supported by simulation labs and instruction in a simulated operating room.
