Nursing Education Graduate Certificate

The University of West Florida offers an online Nursing Education Graduate Certificate designed for individuals who hold an MSN degree and are licensed registered nurses. Coursework focuses on advanced nursing practice for the nurse educator, nursing education seminar content, and practicum experiences in both academic and clinical settings.

The program requires 18 semester hours of coursework and includes courses with advanced clinical practicum and nursing education practicum components. Students complete a course grade of “B” in all nursing courses. A total of 500 practicum hours can be completed in the student’s local area with prior practicum site/preceptor approval, with an option to request a waiver that changes the program to 12-credit with 350 practicum hours.

• An earned Master of Science in Nursing degree from an NLNAC, ACEN, or CCNE accredited nursing program with a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
• Students who, for academic or disciplinary reasons, are not eligible to register in the college or university last attended will not be admitted for graduate study
• Have completed an undergraduate statistics course with a grade of “C” or better
• Possess a current unencumbered Registered Nurse license to practice nursing in a state or territory of the United States
• Have a curriculum vitae (CV) or resume
• Approval by the School of Nursing Recruitment, Admissions, Retention, and Progression (RARP) Committee

Admission to this program is competitive and selective.

Students wishing to earn a graduate certificate must successfully earn a course grade of “B” in all nursing courses.
