The Biology Transfer, Nutrition BS - Associate in Arts (URI) program prepares students for transfer by combining general education with science, math, and two nutrition courses taken at the University of Rhode Island (URI). Students study introductory and advanced biology through BIOL 1002, BIOL 2201, and BIOL 2202, plus anatomy and physiology, chemistry, and multiple math courses that include statistics, statistical analysis, and applied precalculus. The program also includes General Nutrition (NUT 207) and Public Health Nutrition (NUT 212G).
Coursework totals 60 hours, with 33 hours in general education and 27 hours in major requirements. Completion requires taking one or more courses online and two or more courses at URI. Students may also complete the program online if two or more courses are completed at URI. The Joint Admissions Agreement (JAA) structure supports transfer, with students entering the receiving institution with 60 credits and Junior status.
On completion, students complete a JAA plan that provides an Associate’s degree and guaranteed admissions to either Rhode Island College (RIC) or URI. Students also receive personalized advising by a caseload advisor and may receive a tuition discount of up to 30% based on GPA, along with a waived application fee.
